Come one, come all as Got Vape is heading out on a magical dabbing tour to give you a full rundown of everything you need to start dabbing and how to use them once you do!
Keep reading this dab-tastic deep dive to learn a thing or two about what you need to start dabbing and what some perfect options are to pick up from Got Vape!
What Equipment Is Used For Dabbing?
In order to properly dab you are going to need the correct equipment in order to handle, heat, and inhale your concentrates safely!
For traditional dab rigs with bangers - you are going to need a torch, rig, banger, and dab tools.
Electronic-Rigs/Vaporizers on the other hand, typically offer an all in one experience that only requires you to choose your settings and then enjoy a seamless session of dab vapor.
What’s The Difference: E-Rigs Vs. Traditional Bangers
The first fork in your road of dabbing is the choice of whether you are going to select either a traditional glass banger rig or are more interested in the high tech world of E-Rigs.
While both use the same materials, they also offer distinct advantages to cater to the type of dabbing that you are more interested in.
Traditional glass bangers and torch dabbing offers the most raw experience you can get with concentrate, as the act of using a real flame can provide complex flavors and a more analog approach to enjoying your concentrates.
E-Rigs on the other hand can offer an all in one rechargeable platform that can include quality of life features like savable user preferences, precision heat adjustment, and haptic feedback.
What Are The Best Dab Rigs?
For some great all in one ready to go rigs we recommend checking out something like the 6 Inch Colored Striped Water Pipe or the Stokes Vortex 5 Inch Glass Dab Rig. Both of these choices come with a complete rig with a banger included, so all you would need is your torch and tools to get going.
Should you already have a water pipe, you can always get a GV Glass Distro Quartz Banger Nail that fits in any 14mm joints and instantly transform your glass into a dab rig.
We have a large assortment of Bangers available, so take a look to find one that’s compatible with your existing pieces!
What Are The Best E-Rigs for Dabbing?
Two great choices to start out your E-Rig adventures are available with the Lookah Dragon Egg E-Rig and the Sutra Vape DBR Portable Concentrate Vaporizer. Each of these E-Rigs comes with water filtration, a multitude of settings, and more affordable price points.
For a step up, we cannot recommend the Puffco Peak Pro Concentrate Vaporizer with 3DXL Atomizer enough. These E-Rigs from Puffco are equipped with all of their most cutting edge technology including an expanded 3DXL atomizer, cloud enhancing joystick carb cap, and a wide range of temperatures from 400˚ - 644˚F.
All of these options will give you everything you need to start up a dab session and get to enjoy the extremely powerful water filtered experiences that they offer.
What Is The Best Torch For Dabbing?
The best torch for dabbing is the one that serves your needs most! While that answer could be interpreted as a cop out - the A.I. chatbot we pay to write these says that since there are so many different options for torches, it's best to get one that fits specifically with your rig.
Should you have a smaller rig, less space, or simply just want to start slower - then we recommend you take a look at the Wulf Mods Omni Dab Tool Torch. These incredibly compact torches have a more than capable 1,688˚F flame with adjustable length and still manage to be palm sized.
The Omni Torches are a perfect torch to begin with and offer the incredibly unique bonus of being loaded with 4 stellar dabbing tools, each with a different shaped head to give you multiple options to scrape, collect, and manipulate your wax materials.
For the next level up let us point you towards the collection of torch excellence that is the Yocan Red Series. This selection of 9 elite and highly visual torches offer fierce flames coupled with designs that are truly next level.
The choices include wildly adventurous options like the Katana Torch, which houses its monumental 12 inch long 2,500˚F flame, 12G butane tank, and ceramic alloy flame guard in the body of what looks like the hilt of the famous samurai sword - the katana!
Should you rather a more modern looking option, the Red Series also includes the visually arresting Beef Torch which resembles a common weapon. These also include the Red Series trademark 12 inch 2,500˚F flame and slew of safety measures like a flame lock.
All Red Series torches are available in a selection of 5 different color options including blue, grey, pink, silver, and yellow.
Tools Vs. Hot Knives
Lastly - to begin dabbing you are going to need tools to safely and effectively load your concentrated materials into your banger or atomizer. For this there are two distinct options, traditional metal tools and more advanced hot knives.
Metal tools are your tried and true option to move your sticky materials into your heated banger safely. These are the classic option and have been servicing dabbers for decades, the only thing you have to make sure to do is clean them after your sessions to avoid unwanted stickiness.
Hot Knives do the same thing, but instead of having to physically put the tool into the banger, with these the concentrate is heated so that it slides off seamlessly. Hot Knives utilize a small rechargeable battery in order to give you a loading experience with a little bit less scraping.
What Are The Best Tools For Dabbing?
A very basic but incredibly reliable start is the Rainbow Dab Tool With Silicone Covers, this is a classic dual sided dab tool that has a flat scoop on one end and a pointed tip on the other. This lets you either scoop up ooey gooey oils or break apart the densest of crumble all with the same incredibly affordable tool.
For a set of tools in the same style we also have the Rainbow Colored Dabber Set 5pk with Metal Case and Silicon Jar. This excellent kit comes with a convenient carrying case, 5 distinct dab tools, and a silicon jar to store your concentrates when bringing them on the go!
Should you be more artistically inclined, we will point out the awesome selection of Empire Glassworks Dabbers that include funky borosilicate bases like Avocadope and Radioactive Narwhal.
What Are The Best Hot Knives For Dabbing?
For a next gen dabbing experience we want to point out both the Wulf Mods Kodo Hot Knife and the Puffco Limited Edition Storm Hot Knife.
The Kodo Hot Knife is a great entry level choice that runs off of a sturdy 400mAh battery and can easily melt your concentrated material into any banger you need.
Stepping things up a notch, the Puffco Limited Edition Storm Hot Knives feature a heated ceramic blade to make your dabbing a precision and seamless experience, while also donning a gorgeous limited edition Storm dark blue color scheme.
How Do You Properly Dab?
Now onto the really fun stuff! In order to properly dab all you have to do is prepare your concentrates, heat your dab rig, and inhale the ultra luxurious clouds that only dabbing can provide you with!
First - You must take your dab tool (or hot knife) and load your desired amount of concentrate onto it. We recommend starting small, so don’t go too crazy while loading.
Second - You must either heat your banger or atomizer to get your rig hot enough to vaporize your materials properly. For a traditional dab rig this is accomplished by safely starting your torch and then holding the flame lightly against your banger until it’s at the right temperature.
Make sure not to hold the flame too close to the banger, you don’t need to stuff the barrel right against it but instead let the flames slowly bring it to heat. Once done make sure your torch is off, place it somewhere safe, and then move on to step 3!
For E-Rigs this is going to be a lot simpler. All you have to do is begin the heating process, wait until it is done, and then proceed to step 3.
Third - Step three is where the fireworks happen, now that your banger is ready all you have to do is swirl your concentrated material around the banger to allow it to all vaporize. Take your time with this and inhale slowly, the materials are dense so it takes them longer than something like dry herb to vaporize.
Fourth - Exhale your perfectly prepped dab and sit back knowing that you are now officially on your dabbing journey!
How To Clean Up After Dabbing?
For a brief epilogue or a Y in our A to Zed guide, we wanted to talk about a very important part of maintaining your dabbing experience - cleaning up.
As opposed to rolling papers that are finished once smoked, dab rigs and tools can get left with sticky residues if you do not take the time to properly wipe them down. Bangers and atomizers can even get a specific type of stain called “chazz” which can accumulate from not cleaning properly.
To make getting rid of all this easier on yourself we recommend picking up a Wulf Wipe 100pk to have on deck for swabbing down your tools and bangers after a session. With so many to a pack this makes cleaning a lot more convenient and gives you enough to last for the long haul.
For a different take on cleaning, we also want to point out the Wulf Mods Alcohol Filled Dab Swabs 50pk as these can be especially good for cleaning out the hard to reach spots on your atomizer.
